Detroit Marimba

Choose the musical conversation.

The signature Detroit Marimba sound is flute and two marimbists sharing one instrument. You can also ask about solo marimba or a marimba duo. We’ll help match the configuration and repertoire to your event.

Help me choose an ensemble

Three ways to begin.

Solo marimba

One marimbist, with the instrument’s melody, harmony, and resonance at the center. Ask about a personal musical moment, private gathering, or featured performance. The specific program and any new arrangements are confirmed with Spencer.

Marimba duo

Two marimbists sharing one instrument. Ask about the interplay of two players for a reception, celebration, or attended program. Duo repertoire and preparation are discussed separately from the completed trio arrangements.

Signature trio

Lexi Eubanks on flute, with Spencer Perilloux and Cooper Johnson on one marimba. This is the configuration for our completed Guatemalan and contemporary arrangements and the six current digital audio previews.

Start with the moment, then choose the format.

A melody with personal meaning

Send the song and tell us how you want to use it. We’ll discuss which configuration can express it and whether a new arrangement is needed.

A reception with conversation

Share the room, schedule, and how much attention you want on the music. Player count alone does not determine volume, space, or suitability.

A Guatemalan celebration

The current trio repertoire is our clearest starting point. Estudio Marimba’s source material and guidance inform Spencer’s arrangements; ask separately about adapting selections for solo or duo.

Before you confirm.

Do the recordings demonstrate all three formats?

No. The current audio samples are digital mockups of the flute-and-two-marimbists arrangements, not recordings of live musicians. They do not demonstrate a solo or duo performance. We’ll add representative recordings as they become available.

Is each piece custom arranged?

Yes. Spencer creates every arrangement Detroit Marimba performs. The melody, rhythmic character, style, and cultural context guide the writing, while the musical texture is reimagined for the agreed instrumentation.

Is the largest ensemble always the best fit?

The right choice depends on the music, the moment, the venue, and preparation. Choose “Help me choose” in your inquiry if you want to compare options before deciding.
