Familiar melodies.
A sound of our own.
Every piece we perform is custom arranged by Spencer Perilloux for flute and two marimbists sharing one instrument.
Each arrangement preserves the musical character of its source—its melodies, rhythmic feel, and stylistic details—while reimagining the texture for our ensemble. The aim is to let the music’s cultural roots remain audible, with the flute and marimba bringing a fresh color to the traditions that make it meaningful.
With guidance from Guatemala.
Estudio Marimba in Guatemala provided source material and guided Spencer as he developed a repertoire of Guatemalan marimba music for celebrations. That collaboration informs the arrangements’ phrasing, rhythmic character, and approach to style, helping us bring this music to a new ensemble with care for the tradition behind it.
Source transcriptions: Estudio Marimba, Guatemala. Primary collaborator: Byron Castillo. Trio arrangements: Spencer Perilloux.
